The Spider Bites
by Bahareh Amidi, PhD
I just saw a woman pass me by
A beautiful person inside and out
I just cannot begin to realize why her face is covered with spider bites
I have heard of the kiss of a spider
I would not anticipate kisses could leave such marks
Oh but it occurs to me what if in another life she was a victim of human trafficking
and her soul and her face were kissed by the poison of one buying her
I now know what it means to say
Don’t sell your soul
