Compassion in the Midst of Violence
by Mikele Rauch Artist Statement There are permutations in all of our actions: cruel, incomprehensible, sublime—luminous, kind. We can love and we can kill. There is the fierce and powerful component of compassion that must be tended to in the face of suffering. It is not a sentiment. It is a force of intention. The work presented here represents the aspects of compassion in the midst of violence—the grief and the hope, and the vision of what is possible. |
